It thoughtfully leads us through the emergence and spread of COVID 19 some18 years later that led to a global pandemic. It's a fascinating account of the physical and mental toll this disease took on patients and their families and the health care professionals tasked with caring for them under the most difficult of circumstances. Each patient Dr .Eskshar writes about becomes real and human. He takes us into the war zone of the ICU and the minute-by-minute crises that arise and must be dealt with. He explains the science on which he based his medical treatment decisions. Through his writing I could feel the dedication and caring of the health care team but also, at times, the hopelessness when death surrounded them day in and day out. Dr. Eckshar's deep faith and love of God clearly guided him and his prayers in the book were inspirational. He also included moments of levity that made me laugh as well as stories of hope, joy, and perhaps some miracles through prayer. This book was hard to put down. It was such a wonderful, unforgettable detailed account of this historic pandemic. Everyone should read it.”
